Rocks of the Region

Sometimes pictures say more than words can. Here is a page that has links to my Flickr pictures of most of the major stratigraphic units of the region plus a few outside of the Northern Rivers and New England area. Here you can see pictures of rocks, minerals, landscapes and unusual features that within each of the rock units. Locations of each picture are provided in Flickr so that you can check these out for yourself if you are that eager!

In addition I've provided a link to the stratigraphic unit description in Geoscience Australia's Stratigraphic Name Database.

  1. What are the rock types between the Summerland Way and Gibberagee? I live in Myrtle Creek and haw low fertility sandy soil on the higher parts and blue grey clay on the lower parts which get occasionally inundated by slow moving flood water. A neighbor across the road has a fault line between two rock types and permanent wetness with water loving plants growing in the channel formed by the rock boundary.
